“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.” Matthew 25:31-33
I live in North America. When I travelled abroad, I sensed certain admiration from people in countries so-called third-world or underdeveloped countries. I remember that it gave me a sense of pride in those times. I thought we must be the good guys; we had a higher GDP and better education. Later, I was saved by the mercy and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. I repented and knew I was not a good guy. He forgave me, and I was purchased with the price of His blood on the Cross.
The world wants us to see based on the agenda of the prince of this world, a.k.a. the enemy. Many Christians would point at the persecution of Christian brothers and sisters in some Muslim countries and say that’s the persecution described in the Bible. Those Christians got killed because of their faith in our Lord. I understand the optics because we often see things using our lenses. In this case, the lenses are from the lukewarm churches which seek comfort as the highest priority. The enemy can only kill the body, not the soul. Those who died for our Lord shall return with our Lord as His sheep, safe and sound. Their salvation was secured.
I have no interest in geopolitics. Many people I know don’t like the leader of one country in Eastern Europe and see him as a bad guy because of the war. I don’t know him, but all the Western media who hate our Lord also hate him. “He cannot be a Christian. His Jesus must not be my Jesus,” my friend said. Our Lord asked us to test the spirit, so I checked the fruits. This big country, led by this leader with an approval rate of over 80%, seems to love our Lord Jesus Christ and follows the Bible's moral teaching. They don’t recognize same-sex marriage. They prohibit the mutilation of children and gender surgery. They penalize drugs, don’t approve of the killing of unborn babies, and don’t believe men can get pregnant. They promote family values and encourage Christian belief. Then I looked at my own country, and we have a leader with an approval rate of under 30% who is against everything our Lord stands for. My friend could be right, but it is the other way around.
We can pray to our Lord and ask for salves for our eyes so we can see beyond deceitfulness. Our Lord said, “Whoever is not with me is against me.” Those who oppose our Lord hate our Lord. I saw some clips of the Paris Olympic Open Ceremony and how they mocked our Lord publically. The enemy no longer hides it. They know the time is near, and the first three Horses have arrived. My country has always stood with France. I thought we were the good guys.
I repeatedly share that the enemy and his minions are deceitful. What is the enemy's objective? kill the body or lead the soul to the lake of fire? This is personal for him because he cannot bear the thought that we can be sheep upon the return of our Lord. The enemy will not attack our faith directly but go against everything our Lord stands for and pressure us to be part of it. The enemy knows that’s the only way to change our status from sheep to goats. Therefore, if we fall into the trap and willingly support everything against our Lord because we fear persecution and lose comfort in our churches, do you think we are still the good guys? or we are the lukewarm that our Lord will spit out of His mouth?
“Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10-28 (NIV)
Those who died defending our Lord in the Middle East did not fear the persecution of their world. There is no fear when there is no doubt. I think they welcomed it. They followed what Apostle Paul said, “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Upon the return of our Lord Jesus Christ, there shall be sheep on his right and goats on his left. Our Lord will not ask about your affiliation with political parties, which politician you followed, news channels you watched, books you read, churches you visited, or countries you are from. I think you also know that. I believe there will be one question that sheep do not need to answer:
“Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?”
