“Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.” Luke 6:46-49 (NIV)
We discussed building a house with a foundation on the rock by walking with our Lord on the narrow path. This journey is often against our flesh because our hearts have been deceitful from the beginning. This is from the scriptures, and I know it from my own experience and what I have seen.
Our Lord’s Gospel is about repentance for the forgiveness of sins, and He went to the Cross for you and me. I have seen many heart changes that lead to peace, joy, and unconditional love. Those who were blessed enough to become disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ often have some characteristics. Some of those are pretty visible from the outside. Some of those are hidden, and only our Lord can see them. These people trust and obey our Lord with total dependency like their lives depend on it. Without our Lord and Savior, it is like the oxygen has been removed from the air.
Today is the 90th day with the Daily Cross; maybe you can check the following list since you have been walking on that narrow road and see if you have some of these with you. These characteristics are by-products of trust and obedience to our Lord.
I have shared this before. Like always, this is a reminder.
These precious characteristics are:
1. An increased tendency to let things happen rather than make them happen
2. Frequent attacks of smiling and showing kindness
3. Feelings of being connected with others and nature
4. Frequent overwhelming episodes of appreciation
5. A tendency to think and act based on our Lord Jesus Christ’s commands rather than from fears
6. An unmistakable ability to enjoy each moment
7. A loss of ability to worry and trust God more than we trust ourselves
8. A loss of interest in conflict and putting others above ourselves
9. A loss of interest in interpreting the actions of others and forgiving daily
10. A loss of interest in judging others and being humble naturally
11. A loss of interest in judging self
12. Gaining the ability to love and expect nothing in return.
Congratulations!
May our Lord Jesus Christ continue to bless you with what you need for this journey until His return.
