The Mother of Prostitutes

“Then the angel carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness. There I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered with blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns. The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and was glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls. She held a golden cup in her hand, filled with abominable things and the filth of her adulteries. The name written on her forehead was a mystery: babylon the great, the mother of prostitutes and of the abominations of the earth.” Revelation 17:3-5 (NIV)
We discussed this new Babylon City by the End Time. Revelation 17 gives us a theologian's view of this city, so we know the spiritual role this city has played for centuries against our Lord’s disciples. Revelation 18 gives us a geopolitical view of this city to identify her. This new Babylon city must have been a world financial center with a stock market controlling trading activities for materials and merchandise, cargo shipments and held navigational rights. This city also started the human slave trade. It is a city where kings of earth mingled and made many people rich throughout the centuries. This city also sits on seven hills. I think the correct translation has to be mountains in Greek. The mountains mean countries as a metaphor. Some Bible teachings on the internet claim that Vatican City could be this city because Rome sits on seven small hills. I have to disagree for various reasons. The Vatican may have lots of money, but it is not a world financial center that handles cargo shipments and trading activities and makes many people rich. They only made themselves rich. I also don’t think The Vatican has started the slave trade. This new Babylon city controls the Beast, seven nations (seven heads) and ten powerful families (ten horns) without a kingdom, for now.
“This calls for a mind with wisdom. The seven heads are seven hills on which the woman sits. They are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come; but when he does come, he must remain for only a little while. The beast who once was, and now is not, is an eighth king. He belongs to the seven and is going to his destruction. “The ten horns you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but who for one hour will receive authority as kings along with the beast. They have one purpose and will give their power and authority to the beast.” Revelation 17:9-13 (NIV)
I’m sorry to say that we are not the good guys before our Lord. I mean governments and many people in the West. Maybe you already realize that but are afraid to admit it. It was tough when I realized that. I couldn’t sleep. Like everyone else, I followed the news, thinking we were the good guys, and carried that pride whenever I travelled overseas. That was what the news, TV, and movies told us. We defend the weak and meek, saving pregnant women, widows and children in danger, and many righteous and God fearing and not interested in money. In reality, we do the very opposite. Money always comes first. We pretend we don’t see suffering anymore, and we become numb. Our eyes see but no longer perceive. We are blind and neither cold nor hot. We hibernate in self-preservation mode and wait for the Rapture to happen. We follow politicians on the broad road heading to the wide gate and don’t even realize there is no Rapture because our Lord cannot be mocked.
This Mother of Prostitutes, the New Babylon city, is in the West. This city will be up in flames in one hour upon the arrival of the Pale Horse.
Who would commit such a cruel thing?
The group with the name of a construction material?
“The beast and the ten horns you saw will hate the prostitute. They will bring her to ruin and leave her naked; they will eat her flesh and burn her with fire.”Revelation 17:16 (NIV)
The Bible says her own team will betray her and eat her flesh. It is in the book of Revelation, and our Lord does not lie.
“I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see. Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” Revelation 3:15-19 (NIV)
Let’s wake up from the hibernation and pray for salves for our eyes so we can see.
There is no negotiation for discipleship. Surrender to our Lord’s will and obey His commands if you want to see Him upon His return.
Our Lord said: “For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.”
