There are many teachings from our Lord Jesus Christ, and they cover all aspects of our lives. If we pay attention to each of His commands, those teachings are never addressed to our flesh but always to our hearts and the salvation of our souls. Our hearts can be purified and the body full of light when our eyes are obedient.
Job was a righteous man in the Bible during the patriarchal era around 2000 BCE. How do we know that? Job's wealth was measured in livestock, and there was no mention of the law, tabernacle, or temple. Job also lived a little over 200 years, which was likely before Abraham, who lived around 175 years, and the lifespan gradually decreased from there. Even without the law, Job knew and made a covenant with his eyes because he feared God.
I helped in a men's purity ministry for many years and saw the destructive effect of the bondage of pornography on young men, married men, middle-aged and seniors. Age was never an obstacle for the enemy to entice. Some say one becomes wiser as one age, but this is not always the case. The enemy attacks everyone the same because he goes after the heart. Porn addiction is a heart problem, but it always starts with our eyes. It always starts with curiosity. Our eyes always want more because our hearts are deceitful. By watching and cultivating it more, it becomes a bad habit and then an addiction. This kind of sexual sin will not stop there if left untreated and unrepented. It leads to the death of relationships and other types of severe consequences, as well as guaranteed emptiness and depression. The most serious is when the time comes when we knock on the door, we don't want to hear our Lord saying, "I never knew you, go away!”
"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:18 (NIV)
If you have followed Daily Cross, you know that we like to talk about the heavenly realm, the eternal unseen. The unseen world controls the seen world. Our Lord Jesus Christ has dominion over both worlds. From our own experiences and research, we have concluded that permission from the maximum authority is required for actions from the unseen world to the seen world. It was like that in Job's time 4,000 years ago; today, it is the same. There is a legalistic rule in place.
For those familiar with the Book of Job, the devil got God's permission to set Job on trial, and I don't think Job agreed with that. But imagine someone clicks on the tabs to access Porn sites and agrees to the terms to watch those things prepared by the enemy to corrupt one's heart. The permission is given through an unseen legal agreement because of the Free Will, and the spiritual attack is now legal. That is no longer a simple click anymore; it is about life and death from that moment.
The enemy's goal is to destroy God's children and corrupt as many as possible. It is personal to him. The enemy also wants to delay the appointed time by reducing the number of faithful, which is childish from my point of view.
"When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. They called out in a loud voice, "How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?" Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers and sisters, were killed just as they had been." Revelation 6:9-11 (NIV)
“I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in” Romans 11:25 (NIV)
Some may ask, what about watching other movies and TV shows?
I can only share my own experience and what I have observed. If someone watches a horror movie, it gives the legal agreement and invites the spirit of fear and demons to come in. Science may tell you differently about our brain because it only focuses on what is seen. A horrible nightmare definitely requires permission from the unseen world. The same goes for movies with witchcraft, magic, ghosts, murders, sexual immorality, paranormal, terror and more.
My question is, do we really need to spend time and watch those things?
I have not watched them for a long time, and honestly, I don’t miss them at all.
"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you." Philippians 4:8-9 (NIV)
We know how to care for our bodies by eating and drinking healthily.
Some say we are what we eat.
We ought to take care of our hearts and soul.
We are what we watch.
